    3. How we use information

    • To create and run your account and provide the Platform's features, including artisan profiles, galleries, events, messaging, and AI tools.
    • To process payments and subscriptions and send receipts and account notices, if and when those features are enabled.
    • To personalize content and recommendations on the Platform.
    • To send newsletters and promotional emails if you have opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time.
    • To feature artisans and their work on our Platform, social media, events, and marketing, as described in our Terms.
    • To respond to questions and provide support.
    • To keep the Platform safe: detect fraud, spam, and abuse, enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, and protect users, personnel, and the public.
    • To analyze and improve the Platform, using aggregated or de-identified data where practical.
    • To comply with law, respond to legal requests, and establish or defend legal claims.

Where laws require a legal basis (for example, for visitors from the EU or UK), we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform, your consent (which you can withdraw), and legal obligations.

    4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share information only as follows:

    • Publicly, at your direction. Your profile, gallery, events, and comments are visible to anyone, including people without accounts, and may be indexed by search engines.
    • With other users you interact with, such as message recipients or artisans you contact.
    • With service providers that process information for us under contract, including hosting and development (Lovable Cloud), database and authentication (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), payment processing (our third-party payment processor, if and when checkout is enabled), and AI processing (Lovable). They may use it only to provide services to us.
    • For legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, subpoenas, or court orders; to enforce our Terms; to respond to copyright or other rights complaints; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ArtisansVillage, our users, personnel, or the public.
    • In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
    • With your consent or at your direction.

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

    5. AI features

When you use AI tools on the Platform, the content you submit (such as text, images, and piece details) is sent to our AI service provider to generate output. Our provider does not use your inputs or outputs to train its models. We may store your inputs and outputs to provide the feature, show your history, and improve and secure the service. Do not submit others' personal information or anything you want kept confidential to AI tools.

    6. Public content and messages

Anything you post publicly can be seen, copied, and shared by others, and we cannot control what others do with it. Content featured on our social media channels is also subject to those platforms' policies. Direct messages are visible to their recipients and may be reviewed by us when reported or when needed for safety, legal, or enforcement purposes. Be careful about sharing your home address, phone number, or financial details in messages.

    7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and keep the Platform secure. We do not use advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details and choices.

    8. How long we keep information

    • Account and profile information: while your account is open. After closure, removed from public view right away and deleted from active systems within 30 days.
    • Backups: overwritten on a rolling basis, generally within 90 days.
    • Transaction and tax records: as long as required by law, generally up to 7 years.
    • Security, fraud, and enforcement records (for example, records of banned accounts): as long as reasonably needed to protect the Platform.
    • Information subject to a legal hold or dispute: until it is resolved.
    • Marketing preferences and unsubscribe records: kept so we can honor your choices.

    9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and database security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

    10. Your choices and rights

For everyone. You can view and update most account and profile information in your settings, change email preferences or unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, and close your account at any time.
